Florida Water is a traditional cologne tonic long used for bathing, household rituals and spiritual cleansing.
Stormroot’s Florida Water is made in-house per traditional methods of steeping a blend of citrus, spices, and lavender in grain alcohol.
HISTORY:
“La Florida” translates as “The Flowery”, and the beautifully scented tonic originated during the Spanish-led colonization of Florida, where according to the indigenous Taino legend, a spring was said to exist in the area that would heal illness and restore the youth to those who bathed in it’s waters.
The tonic was originally developed as a cologne-adopted and widely used throughout the islands of the Caribbean, further making its way into the South where enslaved Africans incorporated it into their spiritual and healing practices.
The recipes and the traditional applications of Florida Water were protected and carried forward inside the veins of Hoodoo traditions and informs much of how we understand and work with it today.
